Got the annual discount

I was looking for something to help with technical debt reduction and found Factory AI. I ended up requesting a demo, which was pretty straightforward. When it came to pricing, I made sure to ask about the annual billing discount. They offered the usual 15% off for committing for the year, which made the Enterprise AI Agents much more palatable for our budget. It felt like a solid investment, especially since we got the discount. The initial setup was a bit more involved than I expected, but the support helped us get through it.

Consistent performance for sprints

This is my third time renewing with Factory AI. We initially started with CI/CD integration and sprint automation, and it's been consistently reliable. The documentation agents have gotten a bit smarter since our first run, which is a small but welcome improvement. It's not a magic bullet, but for keeping our sprints on track and reducing some of the grunt work, it just works. I compared it with a few other options again this year, but the stability and how it integrates with our existing repos keeps us coming back.

Good idea, needs polish

I tried out the Startup Automation Suite for my small team, mostly for the automated unit testing and a bit of code generation. The unit testing droids actually caught some bugs we'd missed, which was neat. However, the code generation sometimes needed a lot of manual tweaking to fit our style guide, so it wasn't as 'set it and forget it' as I hoped. Delivery of the license key landed in my inbox within a minute, which was good. The pricing for the annual commitment was decent, a pretty standard SaaS discount. Overall, it's promising, but there's room for improvement on the generation consistency.

Thinking of trying Factory.ai for my small team. How's the integration with existing repos, specifically GitHub? Easy to set up or a pain?

S Sean P. 4 days ago
Super easy actually, it plugs right into GitHub. Like, five minutes to get it running with our dev repo.

L Linda Young 3 days ago
Yeah, it's pretty seamless. Didn't have any issues getting it connected to our private GitHub org. Just a few clicks to authorize.

My company is a startup, really tight on budget. Do they have any special pricing for new companies?

D Deborah W. 1 month ago
They do! I'm pretty sure there's a startup program. Check their site for details.

What's the deal with discounts? Are there any promo codes floating around, or is it more like a custom quote thing?

J Jacob Allen 3 weeks ago
For bigger teams, it's usually custom quotes. But if you do annual billing for a smaller plan, there's a discount built in.

A Aaron Wilson 3 weeks ago
I didn't find any promo codes when I signed up. Afaik, any big discounts are negotiated or come with annual plans.

Is there any way to try this out before committing? Like a free trial or something similar?

J James M. 6 days ago
They definitely have a free trial, I used it to check out the Droids. Just sign up on the site.

Yup, free trial is available. I think it's for a limited time or certain features, can't remember exactly but enough to get a feel for it.

Comparing Factory.ai with GitHub Copilot for code generation. Anyone have experience with both and can say which is better for a dev team?

E Eric Davis 1 month ago
Copilot is good for individual devs, but Factory is way more for a whole team's workflow. It does a lot more than just suggest code.
0
K Kyle Torres 1 month ago
I've used both. Copilot is like a smart autocomplete. Factory tries to automate entire tasks and workflows, which is a different league. Depends on what you need, but for team efficiency, Factory is a step up.

How does Factory.ai handle privacy for our code? Like, are they reading everything or is it secure?

M Mark Parker 2 weeks ago
They have a whole section on their site about security and privacy. I think they're SOC2 compliant, which is a good sign.

D Daniel Miller 2 weeks ago
Yeah, they take that stuff seriously. Our legal team looked into it, and they seemed satisfied with their policies for code security and privacy.
